JOB SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Supervisor, Community Services, the Supervised Access Worker will work weekends andevenings to provide a safe, neutral environment for children and families to have access. They will ensure the safety and well-being of children during interactions with approved family members.

MINIMUM EDUCATION/REGISTRATION
• Social Services Worker Diploma preferred
• Child and Youth Worker Diploma required

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE
• Two years’ experience working with separated and divorced families

QUALIFICATIONS:
• Conflict resolution and crisis intervention skills are required.
• Understanding and abilities in working with children and families coping with separation and divorce, family violence, and sexual abuse.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Knowledge of pertinent legislation, such as The Child, Youth, and Family Services Act and The Children’s Law Reform Act.
• High level of responsibility, maturity, interpersonal skills and professionalism.
• Proficiency with computers, especially Microsoft Word, Smartphone/tablets, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and data MIS.
• Possession of a current First Aid Certificate and CPR is required.
• Ability to provide services in both official languages (English/French) is an asset
• Availability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.
• Must provide a clean Criminal Record Check.
• Full COVID-19 Vaccination.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for knowledge of the policies and procedures of the program and ensuring adherence to the same.
2. Responsible for ensuring the safety of the site for clients and staff in accordance with the policies and procedures of the SAP program
3. Observe and document supervised access visits and exchanges in accordance with the policies and procedures of the program, and intervene as required.
4. Ensure responsible collection of user fees and complete relevant tracking forms.
5. Provide individual, family and group services where applicable.
6. Ensure that program supplies are available and appropriate.
7. Responsible to attend all staff meetings.
8. Provide input into the development of proposals for service growth and delivery.
9. Responsible for reporting any concerns to other AFS service areas if relevant to client observations and client involvement with those services.
10. Responsible for making a report to CAS in consultation with the coordinator regarding the suspicion of harm or abuse of a child client.
11. Take initiative to develop a personal professional development plan.
12. Assume other responsibilities as assigned by the Director, Community Services and Strategic Initiatives and/or the Senior Director of Services.

This position falls within the bargaining unit represented by the OPSEU.
