POSITION SUMMARY:

Reporting to the Sr. Corporate Website Experience Manager, the student will work closely with the Strategic Communications team to support OLG’s corporate digital properties, including about.OLG.ca and the intranet.  Objectives include creating, maintaining and optimizing web content, as well as supporting general maintenance and growth of these digital channels.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Assist with the maintenance and development of content libraries consisting of information and design assets in the form of text, pdfs, photography, graphics, video and audio.
  • Collaborate with teams across OLG to identify, update and remove outdated content, including media files such as images, PDFs and Microsoft documents
  • Writes and edits creative copy for a variety of interactive media including the Internet, Intranet, Multimedia presentations, and other promotional tools.
  • Ensure that content within the division's internet and intranet sites are integrated, accurate and current. Provides evaluation and analysis of web use statistics and client feedback.
  • Consult with business units and provide support to project teams to determine solutions that meet business requirements.
  • Help document, implement and monitor adherence to web development and information management standards including style guides, metadata standards, taxonomies, controlled vocabularies, and other classification systems for navigation or other categorization needs.
  • Provides assistance in the development and support of new web-based products and services.
  • Ensure that legal and legislated standards are upheld (e.g. the Municipal Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act, the Trademarks Act and the Copyright Act, Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act).

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR:

  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program with a focus on web, communications, digital media or related field
  • Ability to manage time effectively, prioritize tasks, set goals, and develop systems for achieving those goals
  • Organizational skills to implement a system for tracking and storing digital information, documents, and tasks
  • Strong writing skills and attention to detail
  • Proficiency in content management systems, particularly WordPress, basic level HTML coding, and Adobe Creative
  • An aptitude for learning on the job
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to use critical thinking to inform effective decision making
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines simultaneously
  • Solid interpersonal skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
