The Automotive Mechanic inspects, maintains and repairs our fleet automobiles. He/she executes basic care maintenance like tire rotations and oil changes, diagnosing problems and planning and executing vehicle repairs.
Job duties
• Test to check whether systems and components are secure and working properly.
• Isolate the systems or components that may have caused the problem.
• Drive the vehicle for testing purposes or using various equipment, including diagnostic computers.
• Maintain efficiency and accuracy in diagnosing as well as repairing vehicles.
• Repair or replace worn parts ahead of the vehicle’s breakdown or damage.
• Follow a checklist to ensure that each critical part of the vehicle is examined.
Requirements include:
• High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
• Mechanic license / certification
• Valid driver’s licence.
• Professional demeanor
• Efficient problem-solving skills
• Ability to learn new technology and repair and service procedures and specifications, able to effectively communicate automotive issues clearly are important characteristics of the successful applicant.
Work conditions
• Manual dexterity required to complete maintenance and repairs
• Occasional lifting of items up to 50 lbs.
• Exposure to rust and other substances.
