Big Brother Weekly: Who was evicted this week on Big Brother?

After surviving last Thursday’s eviction by a unanimous vote of 10-0, Hamza was randomly paired up with Veronica in the Head of Household competition. Each of the six pairs had to transfer fruit from one end of the yard to the other. The houseguests competed while inside of crates. One houseguest had to retrieve the fruit, and then bring it to their teammate. That person would then take it the rest of the way, placing it in the tray at the end of the yard. The first team to transfer all of their fruit earned the power to decide which of the two of them became the new Head of Household. Hamza and Veronica edged out fellow houseguests Derek and Kaela to win the competition. They decided to let Hamza be the HoH for the week.

After being crowned the new HoH, Hamza revealed in the diary room that he would like to make everyone feel uncomfortable. He added that he is sick of everyone going along with what the house wants. While numerous houseguests had been pushing for Ali and Olivia to be the next targets heading into the week, Hamza decided to nominate only one of the two. At the nomination ceremony, Hamza nominated Jesse and Olivia for eviction. In the diary room, Hamza explained that he nominated Olivia because the whole house wanted her up. As for Jesse, Hamza said it’s time to break up the popular kids who have had it too easy for too long. Hamza added that he is sick of them controlling the votes and the house.

After nominations, Hamza explained to Jesse that the move is all part of a great plan. Hamza said they cannot appear close to each other. He claimed that he would use the Power of Veto on Jesse in order to put Ali up if he wins it. Hamza admitted in the diary room that he did not yet know who he wanted to keep safe. Jesse said Hamza’s plan sounds super sketchy but he has to trust him. Jesse’s close ally, Derek, then asked Hamza if he will take Jesse down if he wins the veto. Hamza said yes. Derek then said “I don’t want to ask to promise on Carolyn (Hamza’s fiancee), but tell me”. Hamza said if Derek wants him to promise on Carolyn, he will promise on Carolyn. Hamza told the diary room that he has no problem telling Derek what he wants to hear if he is going to play like that by bringing his fiancee’s name into it.

It was then time for the veto competition. In addition to the HoH and the two nominees, Erica, Jesse and Ryan were chosen to compete. The Wendy’s sponsored competition involved chopping away at blocks of ice to release balls that could be used to knock over numerous vegetable targets. Hamza won his second straight competition, earning himself the Power of Veto and a $5,000 cash prize from Wendy’s. Though he had promised that he would use the veto on Jesse, Hamza had talks with both Jesse and Derek to propose the idea of potentially not using the veto because it would upset the house. Derek suggested that it would not upset the house. Hamza told him that people are lying to his face about not wanting Jesse to go. In the diary room, Hamza said Derek is being annoying. Hamza added that nobody is going to tell him what moves to make. Hamza briefly considered using the Power of Veto on Olivia in order to nominate Derek next to Jesse. At the veto ceremony, Hamza decided not to use the Power of Veto. Before the veto ceremony came to a close, Jesse stood up to let the houseguests know that Hamza said he would use the veto on him, and he had promised on some very personal things but it still wasn’t enough. Jesse said he would not put his trust in someone who does that. Hamza was upset with Jesse for bringing his fiancee into it. Hamza thought that there was no need for Jesse to make it personal.

The night before the eviction, Jesse approached Hamza to ask if he wants Derek and Kaela on the block. Despite being aligned with those two throughout the season, Jesse said he realizes that being affiliated with them is hurting his game. Jesse said he is willing to be a soldier to go after Derek and Kaela. Late into the night before the eviction, and even the morning of the eviction, there were still some discussions about whether or not to keep Jesse. When people started to tell Jesse that they were going to vote him out anyway, Jesse pulled Derek, Kaela, Erica, Johnny, Maddy and Paras in to talk moments before the eviction. Jesse admitted that he said he would target Derek and Kaela. He said that the other side would not budge even after being told that, because that’s how solid that they are. Jesse said he wants to stay in the game to take a shot at Hamza. Jesse was ultimately evicted by a vote of 9-2. Derek and Veronica voted to evict Olivia. The HoH competition got underway. The houseguests were quizzed on a display that they were shown the day prior. The conclusion of the competition will air on Monday night’s episode. Two houseguests will be evicted next Thursday night, in the first double eviction episode of the season.
