Even though it's winter, many are already thinking with great anticipation about the next baseball season.
As I mentioned here before, it's because the Blue Jays have made significant changes in the off-season, and the expectations for a return to the post-season are high.
Just before Christmas, they added National League Cy Young winner R.A Dickey in a major deal with the New York Mets.
There are those who say they gave away too much of their future. I say for the Jays that the future is NOW!
In other words, they have a chance to make a dent this season, and no on ever knows who good prospects turn out to be.
And, baseball fans aren't just thinking about the bigs. The Border Cats will be back at the Port Arthur Stadium for their 11th season in the Northwoods League.
They get things started on the road at the end of May, and the home opener is set for June 1 against Willmar.
The schedule also sees the league restoring cross-division play and that means Eau Claire and Wisconsin will make trips here.
The season closes out as the Cats have an eight-game homestand from Aug. 4 through Aug. 11.
If the Cats are contending, that will make for a very exciting week in Thunder Bay.
