Baseball's back

A new baseball season is starting, and as always hope springs anew for fans of all teams. This includes the Toronto Blue Jays, who had a tough 2013 after off-season acquisitions had many predicting much better things on the field.

A new baseball season is starting, and as always hope springs anew for fans of all teams.

This includes the Toronto Blue Jays, who had a tough 2013 after off-season acquisitions had many predicting much better things on the field.  It didn't happen, as injuries took their toll.  But, this is a new season, and I believe that things should improve for the Jays and their fans this season.

Look for continued improvement this season in Cleveland and Pittsburgh. The Yankees losses will likely keep them from making the post-season. Is Detroit ready to get to that next step, by re-shaping its offence to go along with one of the best starting pitching rotations?

The Border Cats new season is still a couple of months off, and a new manager is at the helm.  Enter former Cardinals draft-pick Johnny Hernandez with the task of turning around a dismal 2013 in the Northwoods League.

As always, look for former Northwoods Leaguers in the bigs, especially after last season's Cy Young performance of Detroit Max Scherzer.

And hats off to all those with the Thunder Bay International Baseball Association for landing the 2017 World Under-18 Championship.   We're looking forward to another successful event.
