Whew!
What a finish to the opening round of the Stanley Cup playoffs with three exciting Game 7s.
The Los Angeles Kings becoming the latest team to prove the adage that it's not over until it's over, coming back from three games down to beat the Sharks. Minnesota pulling off a big upset over Colorado, and the Rangers knocking off Philadelphia.
So, the second round starts and it's time to venture into the murky waters and offer my predictions. I had a good first round, correct on seven of eight winners only missing on Colorado-Minnesota.
I like Montreal over Boston because of Carey Price, and the Canadiens overall speed. And, not just because Montreal is my favourite team. Canadiens in a tough six game series.
Sidney Crosby will likely break out of his scoring slump and lead the Penguins past the New York Rangers. But, if New York gets the goaltending it could be out to the golf course for number-87 and company. I am taking Pittsburgh in six.
How can you count out Los Angeles now? Anaheim is a solid team, and I think this could be a great chapter of the Battle of California. In the end, I think Mickey Mouse's ears will twitch and Donald will be quacking with the Ducks going to the conference final after six games.
And, Patrick Sharp and the Blackhawks will be in tough against a hard-working, never-say-die Minnesota Wild crew. But, the defending champs should move on with a six game victory.
Enjoy what promises to be another great playoff round.
