Here comes the hockey

Relax, it's only pre-season. That's my response to the Thunderwolves three losses before the regular OUA season gets underway. A 4-1 loss to Prince Edward Island, followed by a 7-1 embarrassment.

That's my response to the Thunderwolves three losses before the regular OUA season gets underway. A 4-1 loss to Prince Edward Island, followed by a  7-1 embarrassment.

After that, a 7-1 loss to to a much stronger NCAA University of Minnesota-Duluth Bulldogs.

Pre-season is scheduled for a reason. It’s there to help the team figure things out, fix mistakes and be ready when the wins and losses mean something.

That begins now.

SIJHL
A great start to the Superior Junior League season for the Thunder Bay North Stars.

New coach Jeremy Adduono has his troops firing on all cylinders with four straight wins, and then the streak ends with a shootout loss to first place Fort Frances.

The impressive streak has all been on the road.

NHL
The Leafs started strongly with road wins in Montreal and Philadelphia. The Penguins are rolling, and Marc-Andre Fleury wants to get back to being one of the elite goaltenders.

One of the best netminders of all-time, Patrick Roy is having an impact behind the bench with Colorado which is also getting great performances from Semyon Varlamov.

But, it's very early yet in a long season with many more nights to come.
