Morrison still proving to be a strong coach

There can be no doubt Scott Morrison has done a very good job since being hired as the coach of the Lakehead University men's basketball team.

There can be no doubt Scott Morrison has done a very good job since being hired as the coach of the Lakehead University men's basketball team.

He’s successfully recruited a string of good players, with some travelling a long way to play in Thunder Bay. One of those is Joe Hart, who came here from England and made the OUA all-rookie team this season.

Morrison's effort have paid off in dividends, as the Thunderwolves advanced for the fourth straight year to the National final-eight championships.

The successful record has also paid off in fan interest.

Many nights during the season the university fieldhouse, known as the Thunderdome, has been packed. It just makes for another good night of sports entertainment in the community.

It also encourages, and provides good role-models, to any young people playing basketball.

The women's basketball program has also made some significant strides with the hire of Jon Kreiner.

He arrived on the scenes around the same time as Morrison. While he hasn't seen his team enjoy as much success, the women's team is providing good role-models for young players as well as some great entertainment during the winter.

Congratulations to Carolyn Fragale who was named to the second team all-stars in the OUA, and also to Yoosrie Salhia and Ryan Thomson who made the first-team, and to Greg Carter who was named the top defensive player in the country for a second year in a row.
