So the annual ''all-bore'' games in the NHL and the NFL have taken place for another year.
I think the midseason all-star games have really lost their lustre over the years. This new method of having team captains choose a team is kind of interesting, but only moderately so.
The NHL all-star game has had many different set-ups since its inception, beginning with the defending cup winner against the stars of the league. Then it moved on to a showdown between conferences, and now the all-stars form of ''shinny.''
Obviously the game still has a draw and is a big boost the NHL city that hosts it. But, I don't feel particularly excited by it, and would like see another tweak to if.
Perhaps, go back to a conference showdown, and pout home-ice advantage for the conference in the Stanley Cup final up for grabs such as Major League Baseball has done for the World Series.
It might make for a more competitive, and interesting game.
The NFL has mirrored the NHL with the captain picking team concept, and it’s just as uninteresting.
