Looking back at my second round predictions, I had three of four correct. I continue to underrate the Boston Bruins, but I will do the same with my prediction in the Prince of Wales Conference final.
Sidney Crosby and the Penguins offence is rolling after their dominating wins over Ottawa. James Neal has been hot, and veteran Jarome Iginla finds himself eight wins away from the coveted silverware now.
I think the Penguins will have enough offence to get past the hard-working Boston Bruins. But, when you are down to this level, no win is ever easy. This should be a tough, hard fought series that may go the distance.
In the West, I find it hard to go against the defending champion Kings.
Jonathan Quick is showing that last spring was no fluke. He is the best goaltender so far in the playoffs.
The Kings play physical, and with great intensity. That will be a contrast to the speedy Chicago Blackhawks, with the scoring power of Patrick Sharp, Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews.
But, the decisive point for me will be the defensive play, and this is where Kenora's Mike Richards and the Kings have the edge.
I am picking the Kings in six, setting up an all 1968 expansion final between Pittsburgh and Los Angeles.
However things turn out, I am sure the conference finals will be just as exciting as the first two rounds have gone.
