3rd Annual French Portage Trail Run Public Service Announcement

In 2010 and 2011, a 5 and 12 km trail run was offered in Quetico Provincial Park. Tracing the steps of the Anishinaabeg and Voyageurs, the route(s) follow the historic French Portage.

In 2010 and 2011, a 5 and 12 km trail run was offered in Quetico Provincial Park.

Tracing the steps of the Anishinaabeg and Voyageurs, the route(s) follow the historic French Portage. The unique event drew runners from Dryden, Kenora, Atikokan, Thunder Bay and some Americans as well. Unfortunately, the run was stopped in 2012.

It’s back! The Beaten Path Nordic Trails and Quetico Provincial Park are excited to host the 3rd French Portage Trail Run on Saturday, August 20th.

The race begins at 10:00 am CDT at the French Portage Trailhead at the Dawson Trail Campgrounds in Quetico Provincial Park. Registration opens at 9:00 am CDT at the same location. The cost is $20.00/participant or $35.00/family.

Participants can run, walk, trot, whatever they want. The event is timed and will close 12:00.

The fee covers insurance, prizes and food for roasting on a campfire following the race. A free stretching clinic is also provided at 11:30 am. We are for volunteers to look after water and first aid stations.

This is a great opportunity for students looking for fill some volunteer hours prior to returning to school..hint, hint… Transportation will be provided.
