Kiwanis Club of Westfort hosts Western Canada District Convention

Community Submissions

Thunder Bay, ON — Kiwanians from across Western Canada will gather in Thunder Bay this summer for the annual Western Canada District Convention, a weekend of inspiration, learning, and community celebration.

The event takes place Friday, July 25 and Saturday, July 26, and is proudly hosted by the Kiwanis Club of Westfort.

This year’s convention theme, “Tomorrow’s Leaders Today: Inspiring Generations of Change,” highlights the Kiwanis commitment to empowering young people through leadership, mentorship, and service.

The convention will feature educational workshops, collaborative sessions, and networking opportunities designed to help Kiwanis clubs strengthen their impact in communities across the region.

The convention is made possible in part thanks to the generous support of the Thunder Bay Community Economic Development Commission’s (CEDC) Tourism Development Fund. This support has helped bring the event to the city and will allow visiting Kiwanians to explore and enjoy all that Thunder Bay has to offer.

As part of the opening night festivities on Friday, July 25, the Kiwanis Club of Westfort will shine a spotlight on local leadership by making a special presentation to a Thunder Bay-based volunteer group in recognition of their exceptional service to the community.

This celebration underscores the convention’s theme by acknowledging the power of local volunteers who are actively shaping a better future.

“This year’s convention is a celebration of what’s possible when we believe in youth. Tomorrow’s Leaders, Today reminds us that the future is already taking shape through service,” says Governor McKenna Coran, Western Canada District.

“We’re thrilled to be welcoming our Kiwanis family to Thunder Bay,” says Gladys Berringer, President of the Kiwanis Club of Westfort.

“Our city’s strong spirit of volunteerism and community leadership makes it the perfect place to explore how we can continue to inspire and empower future generations.”

The convention will welcome attendees from Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Northwestern Ontario, including members of Kiwanis-sponsored youth leadership programs like Circle K., Builder's Club and K-Kids.
