THUNDER BAY – The number of active COVID-19 cases confirmed in the Thunder Bay District fell to three on Monday, hitting another low for 2021.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported one new case Monday in a First Nation, a result of close contact with a previously confirmed case.
The active case count of three across the district fell by one from Friday (the health unit no longer reports numbers over the weekend), reaching its lowest level since there was a single active case on Nov. 6, 2020.
There were no district residents hospitalized with the virus as of Monday.
Since the pandemic began, the TBDHU has confirmed 3,338 cases of COVID-19. Of those, 3,271 are considered resolved and 3 active, while the virus was a contributing or underlying cause of 64 district deaths.
