COVID-19 numbers shrink, with single case reported

THUNDER BAY – COVID-19 numbers continued to improve Friday as the Thunder Bay District Health Unit reported a single confirmed case.

The district’s active case count fell to four, the lowest total since Nov. 6. The health unit has reported only four new confirmed cases over the past week.

Meanwhile, there were no district residents in hospital with the virus as of Friday, falling from two the previous day.

The single case reported by the TBDHU Friday involved a Thunder Bay-area resident and was attributed to travel outside of Northwestern Ontario.

The health unit has reported a total of 3,338 confirmed cases since the pandemic began, with four active and 3,270 considered resolved. The virus was a contributing or underlying factor in 64 deaths.
