THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit has declared a COVID-19 outbreak on the 5 North Unit at St. Joseph’s Hospital.

The outbreak was called after three individuals associated with the hospital tested positive for COVID-19 and it was determined the transmission had occurred at the facility.

A thorough assessment is being undertaken, including enhanced surveillance and testing activities, as well as on-site inspection.

Prior to the outbreak there were already significant measures in place at the hospital to reduce the likelihood of transmission.
