Health Unit announces 22 new COVID cases

It's the largest single-day total announced by the health unit since April 1 and leaves the district with 68 active cases, the highest total since June 5.

THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says 22 new cases of COVID-19 have been diagnosed, the highest single day total since April 1.

The new cases bring the district’s active COVID-19 case count to 68, the highest it’s been since June 5.

Of the new cases, 21 reside in Thunder Bay and surrounding area and another lives in a First Nation Community.

Three previously announced cases are now considered to be resolved. Eighteen of the cases are considered close contact, while two are of unknown origin and two are pending.

There have been 3,537 COVID-19 cases in the District of Thunder Bay since the pandemic began, including 2,952 in 2021.

The region’s seven-day rolling per-100,000 case count stands at 42.68.
