THUNDER BAY – The District of Thunder Bay has incurred four more deaths related to COVID-19, bringing the total since the pandemic began to 108.

The Thunder Bay District Health Unit announced the deaths on Thursday, part of its weekly COVID-19 update to the community.

According to the latest figures, an additional 263 cases have been confirmed, though the known active case count dipped to 201, down from 208 a week earlier. However, the health unit has cautioned since January that numbers are likely considerably higher, but not confirmed, due to the lack of availability of molecular testing in Ontario.

There have been 9,920 confirmed cases in the district in 2022, of the 14,184 reported since March 2020.
