KENORA, Ont. – The Northwest Health Unit has announced 36 new COVID-19 cases in their catchment area.

The active case count is now 132.

Twenty of the cases are in the Kenora Health Hub area, where a state of emergency was declared earlier this week.

Seven new cases were detected in the Dryden area, while four were found in the Red Lake area and three in the Fort Frances area. Single cases were also found in the Emo and Sioux Lookout areas.

“NWHU recommends that everyone, including those who have been vaccinated, assume COVID-19 is in their community and practise preventive measures like physical distancing, wearing a mask in enclosed public spaces and when physical distancing is a challenge, good hand hygiene, and not touching their face. Anyone who has symptoms, or who has been in contact with a positive case, should self-isolate and get tested,” their daily case count release reads.
