THUNDER BAY -- A single new case of COVID-19 has been reported by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.

But with three previously announced cases now considered to be resolved, there are just five active cases in the health unit's catchment area.

There have been 15 cases reported to date in August, eight more than the seven reported in all of July.

Since the pandemic began there have been 3,358 cases reported, with 3,290 considered resolved. There have been 64 deaths, though none since June 16, attributed to complications from COVID-19.

In other COVID-19 news, CTV News is reporting in the absence of vaccination passports at the provincial level, medical officers of health across Ontario have unanimously agreed to provide them at the local level.

TBNewswatch has reached out to the Thunder Bay District Health Unit for confirmation and comment. The province has denied reports it plans to provide vaccination passports.
