THUNDER BAY -- There have been two cases of COVID-19 found to be associated with Westgate Collegiate and Vocational Institute.

Lakehead Public Schools, in a release, said they received notification from the Thunder Bay District Health Unit and said they are actively working together to manage any potential exposures in the school.

Anyone identified as a high- or low-risk contact is being contacted by the health unit, while parents or caregivers of students in impacted classes or cohorts can expect to be directly contacted by a public health professional for an assessment and further instructions.

Teachers, staff and visitors that may have come in contact with either of the two cases will also be directly contacted.

Anyone else in the school setting who is not specifically contacted by public health would not be considered at elevated risk because of this situation at this time.
