THUNDER BAY -- Two more deaths associated with COVID-19 have been recorded in the region.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit on Friday said there have now been 77 deaths associated with the virus since the pandemic began, adding there were 192 new cases detected since the last report on Wednesday, leaving 359 active cases in the District of Thunder Bay.
There are now 359 known active cases, though public health officials have stated that because of the limitations placed on PCR testing, the number is likely much higher.
There are currently 50 people hospitalized with COVID-19 across the district, including 10 in intensive care units.
There have been 7,624 cases officially detected since the first case arrived in the district in March 2020, with 7,188 considered resolved. Of those cases, 3,360 have been detected in 2022.
