THUNDER BAY – Just 463 COVID-19 vaccinations were given out last week in the District of Thunder Bay.

That’s the lowest total since the Thunder Bay District Health Unit began releasing vaccination numbers nearly a year ago.

The previous low was 803, recorded two weeks ago.

Of the latest doses administered, only 32 were first doses. Another 215 were third doses and 216 were second doses.

A total of 126,699 people living in the district have received at least two doses, with 78,783 having received a third dose. A little less than 10,000 people have received a first dose, but not a second. About 85.5 per cent of those 12 and older are double-dosed.

In the youngest eligible age category, just 64.5 per cent of those aged five to 11 have received a single dose, while only 40.9 per cent are double dosed as of this past Saturday. In adults, only 83.2 per cent of those 30 to 39 are double dosed.

The federal government on Friday is lifting testing requirements for fully vaccinated travellers seeking to enter or return to Canada, but the non-vaccinated or partially vaccinated are still subject to strict testing regimens and the possibility of quarantines.

A total of 341,509 vaccinations have been administered in the District of Thunder Bay.
