Our story

Cottage Time Public House was established in June 2022. Cottage Time Public House dishes feature Canadian food infused with an indigenous twist.

The name Cottage Time was inspired by amazing Canadian Rock, but specifically by the music of late Gord Downie. Gord Downie was a proud Canadian music artist, amazing songwriter, and remarkable musician, and who was one of the founders of the Tragically Hip Band.

Gord was a strong advocate of reconciliation between the indigenous people and non‑indigenous people. Along with his brother Mike, and the Wenjack family, he was one of the co‑founders of the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund. Chanie Wenjack was a young indigenous boy who escaped residential school which ultimately led to his passing. This was the inspiration to Gord Downie’s project titled Secret Path. His commitment to First Nation’s people was reconciliation with non‑indigenous people across Canada.
