Holiday Hero finalist: Angels in Aprons

Meet David Facca, a Thunder Bay resident who strives to provide fresh qualities meals for those in need with his local volunteer group, Angels in Aprons.

THUNDER BAY – For local volunteer group, Angels in Aprons, providing a quality meal for those in need is not only important during the holiday season, but all year round.

Angels in Aprons is a group of family and friends who volunteer regularly throughout the year at Shelter House’s soup kitchen to provide quality meals for those in need.

A couple of years ago, Angels in Aprons decided to enhance the quality of dinners at the Shelter House by purchasing extra food on top of what the Shelter’s pantry already had to offer.

Since then, Angels in Aprons continue to supply the main course and dessert for each meal, and use the vegetables, fruit and bread from the Shelter.

Each meal comes with freshly made dessert, vegetables and salad when available.

These outstanding volunteers have dedicated countless hours preparing meals including Greek chicken and potatoes, homemade Italian sausages, Steak sandwiches, hamburgers, poutine and a whole lot more.

For these heroes, every $1 means one good meal and with $1,000 they would be able to provide 1,000 more dinners for those in need.

Don't forget to vote for who you believe is this year's Holiday Hero.
