THUNDER BAY – National Youth Week is here.
The City of Thunder Bay will be celebrating the passion, potential and power of the youth ages 10 to 24 in the community from Thursday to May 7.
The city’s recreation and culture division, in partnership with local organizations, has created a week filled with different activities.
“National Youth Week is an exciting time of the year for us,” said Nina Arcon, program supervisor of children, youth and strategic initiatives.
“It’s a chance to celebrate the incredible young people in our community by offering them fun, meaningful opportunities to connect, learn, and express themselves. We’re proud to work with our community partners to create a lineup of events that truly reflect the spirit, energy, and creativity of Thunder Bay’s youth."
The week of activities begins at the Thunder Bay Art Gallery, with a tour, food, prizes and activities hosted by Community Arts and Heritage Education Project (CAHEP), Thursday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.
On Friday, from 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., learn kitchen skills and make something delicious at a cooking class with Youth Move and Roots Community Food Centre.
Visit local shops and try some new foods during a Westfort Village tour with Youth Move on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
On Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., there will be a Star Wars themed pool party at the Canada Games Complex.
