THUNDER BAY — As RibFest weekend comes to an end, organizers couldn’t have been happier with how it all turned out this year.
“It's been amazing. Between trains and construction, and a little bit of parking, people are still finding their ways. They understand how much fun we're having down here and what an important event this is for Our Kids Count. It's incredible the turnout we've had,” said Daniel Trevisanutto, co-chair of RibFest.
He said they have seen a few thousand people come out over the weekend to check out the festivities.
“RibFest is all in support of Our Kids Count. It's such a fantastic way to do it, so many of the programs that Our Kids Count does are around food security.
“To have an event that's food-focused, that brings people together, that brings family and communities together. It's exactly what we're trying to build at Our Kids Count, and it's just a perfect match for what we're doing,” he said.
One of the biggest fundraisers over the weekend is the 50/50 draw.
“As of right now, Sunday afternoon, we're over $17,000,” Trevisanutto said.
The 50/50 draw is open until 8 p.m. on Sunday, and tickets can be purchased online through the Our Kids Count’s website.
