LETTER: No more quick bucks

To the editor:

I find it interesting that Coun. Ken Boshcoff feels that the criteria for maintaining a city funded facility is that it does not lose money. Perhaps Coun. Boshcoff might want to review the operations at the Community Auditorium, the Games Complex, Volunteer Pool, Chippewa Park, Thunder Bay Transit and countless other services the city runs and that my and many other taxpayers’ dollars go to that lose money.

I won’t even mention the Marina. Coun.Boshcoff is prepared to forsake the health and welfare of hundreds of people (many of them a part of a growing group of retired senior citizens) who use Municipal Golf Course for the sake of making a quick buck.

If my memory serves me right Coun. Boshcoff was a strong proponent of the sale of Thunder Bay Telephone a number of years ago in order to make a quick buck. I can only imagine what our taxes would be today if Alderman Boshcoff had won that battle.

Jules Tupker,
