LETTER: Temporary village site selection proposal

It is obvious that no matter where a site selection is chosen in the urban area of the city, there will be opposition.
Letter to the editor

To the editor,

The issue about where to build temporary housing for the homeless continues. I have responded twice in the Tbnewswatch comments section when this same concern has been published; as well as I participated in the TBDSSAB survey with my suggestion. There seems to be no traction, attention or comment made from decision makers.

It is obvious that no matter where a site selection is chosen in the urban area of the city, there will be opposition. I suggest to build a commune outside of the urban city in a non-residential rural area. This place should house the equivalent as to the current housing proposal. It should also be monitored with live-in professional counsellors as well as security. When suitable accommodations are made available, then those who have the best chance of independent living should be chosen for urban reintegration.

This suggestion becomes a win-win alternative. Hopefully, council will take this suggestion seriously. There has been enough time and tax dollars spent on this issue already. It’s time to select and build. Hopefully, my suggestion will help in the selection process.
