10 criminal charges laid after Shoal Lake #39 incident

KENORA, Ont. — RCMP in Manitoba have arrested a suspect in a weapons incident on Shoal Lake # 39 First Nation on Sunday.

According to the Treaty Three Police service, a firearm was discharged at a residence on the First Nation.

None of the occupants of the home were injured.

After the suspect left the scene in a vehicle, Treaty Three Police requested assistance from the OPP and RCMP.

The mounties subsequently apprehended the man in the Falcon Lake, Manitoba area following a car crash that happened after he attempted to evade police.

Treaty Three Police, in a statement Monday, said he faces 10 criminal charges including assault with a weapon and careless use of a firearm.

Additional charges are expected as the investigation continues.

RCMP have also charged the man, identified as a 21-year-old resident of Falcon Lake, with flight from police and with impaired driving.
