THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports 10 new COVID-19 cases in its jurisdiction, but only three of them are in the City of Thunder Bay or surrounding townships.

Four of the cases are in First Nation communities, and three are in other communities in the district.

The TBDHU says eight of the 10 cases have been traced to close contact with infected individuals, one is the result of travel outside Northwestern Ontario, and one has no known exposure.

Three cases have been resolved since Sunday, bringing the number of active cases across the district to 74, seven more than on Sunday.

This is the largest number of active cases reported since Dec. 30.

Three patients are receiving treatment in hospital, including two in the intensive care unit.

No new cases are reported at Southbridge Roseview long-term care home, which now lists seven active cases, including one resident and six members of the staff.

The Ontario government reports 3,338 new cases across the province Monday.
