THUNDER BAY — A day after only two new COVID-19 cases were announced – the fewest since Nov. 26 – the Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports 10 additional cases in the City of Thunder Bay and immediate surrounding area.
Nine of the cases are connected to the outbreak at the Southbridge Roseview long-term care home.
The TBDHU says nine positive tests came back after surveillance testing was conducted among all residents and staff on Sunday, Dec. 6.
The 10th case, not connected to Roseview, is the result of close contact.
This individual is self-isolating.
There are now 114 active cases in the city and district.
Three people remain in hospital, including one patient in the ICU.
The TBDHU website shows that the most recent weekly positivity rate –the percentage of individuals testing positive for COVID-19– was 2.0 per cent (week of Nov. 29 to Dec. 5) of the total number of tests conducted that week, compared with 2.6 per cent the previous week.
