11 new COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay area

The number of active cases in the city and district falls to 150.

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health unit reports 11 new COVID-19 cases in the city or immediate surrounding area.

Five of the cases are connected to the ongoing outbreaks at the Thunder Bay Correctional Centre (4) and the Thunder Bay District Jail.

Four others are listed as close contacts with previously-identified cases, while one has no known source of exposure and another remains under investigation.

Sixteen cases have been resolved since Monday, bringing the number of active cases in the city and district to 150, five fewer than on Monday.

Three people remain in hospital, including one in the intensive care unit, which is unchanged from recent days.

Across Ontario, the government reports 1,740 new cases, a significant drop from the 1,958 cases reported on Monday.
