THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports 133 new positive test results for COVID-19 in its service area since Monday.
In an update issued Wednesday, TBDHU said the district's current active caseload is 282, compared with 337 two days earlier.
The number of people hospitalized with the virus is 46, one fewer than on Monday.
There are 11 patients in intensive care, an increase of one.
The weekly positivity test rate also went up.
TBDHU said 23.7 per cent of tests for COVID-19 came back positive during the week of Feb. 6 to 12.
The positivity test rate the previous week was 17.9 per cent.
Across the district, there are 10 active COVID outbreaks in high-risk settings, including the Chartwell Arundel retirement residence (facility-wide) and Shelter House.
Both those outbreaks were declared this week.
Because testing for the virus has been limited to certain groups since Dec. 31, 2021, TBDHU continues to caution that the lab-confirmed cases that it reports are a significant under-representation of COVID-19 activity in the district.
