THUNDER BAY — An additional 14 confirmed cases of COVID-19 are reported Wednesday by the Thunder Bay District Health Unit, including 12 in the City of Thunder Bay or immediate surrounding area.
The other two cases are in the town of Marathon, according to the Marathon Famly Health Team and North of Superior Healthcare Group.
The TBDHU says four of the 14 new cases are related to surveillance testing that was done Sunday at Southbridge Roseview long-term care home.
Among the other 10 cases, three are the result of close contact, three have no known source of exposure, and four are still under investigation.
There are now 118 active COVID-19 cases in the TBDHU coverage area.
Two individuals are in hospital, including one in the intensive care unit.
On Tuesday, there were 114 active cases in the city and district.
Southbridge Care Homes announced earlier Wednesday that a fourth resident of the Roseview nursing home has died after contracting COVID-19.
So far during the pandemic, the virus has taken the lives of six people within the jurisdiction of the Thunder Bay District Health Unit.
There have been 400 confirmed COVID-19 cases throughout the district.
The town of Marathon currently has 12 active cases.
