2nd annual Show N Shine raises money for Northern Cancer Fund (45 photos)

More than 75 of the city's finest rides were on display during the weekend car show

Despite the cooler weather, Saturday saw the annual Show N Shine car show return for its second year.

Car enthusiasts of all ages came out to see more than 75 of Thunder Bay’s finest rides, with donations going to support the Northern Cancer Fund.

“This is our second year doing the Show N Shine car show, like last year this is in support of the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Foundation, the Northern Cancer Fund. This year, 75 per cent of all donations will go to the Northern Cancer Fund, and 25 per cent is to cover costs and to plan for future car events.” said event founder Kevin Ng

“Every registration a minimum donation is $10, but we’ve already had large number donations come in as high as $100.“

Last year two separate shows were held, but this year organizers decided to concentrate their efforts on one event.

“This year we’re just holding one event because of the amount of time needed to run the event. I don't have that time, we’re doing this event once and only once so we poured all our resources into one event to make it as good as possible. “

Funds raised totalled just over $1,300 this year, and organizers say they will continue to make this an annual event.

Additions to this year's show included hourly prize draws with nearly a thousand dollars in prizes to be given away, as well as local food vendors, and new vehicle categories for the voting part of the event.

Here is a list of this year's winners:

  • Best European - 1983 Audi Quattro, Greg Symons
  • Best Subaru - 2017 Subaru WRX STI, Shawn Albert
  • Best Japanese/Korean - 1995 Honda Civic SI, Aaron Sacek
  • Best Classic – 1932 Ford Roadster built by legendary car builder Chip Foose from the TV show Overhaulin, Bobby Arella
  • Best Truck - 1987 Chevrolet Half ton, James Walford
