40 new cases in Thunder Bay District, 58 resolved

The number of cases so far in the pandemic passes the 2,500 mark.

THUNDER BAY -- The Thunder Bay District Health Unit says there were 40 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday.

The 40 new cases include 37 in the city and surrounding area and three in district communities.

Of the 40 cases, 15 cases are listed as household contact, 17 are listed as close contact, two are related to the Walford retirement home outbreak, two no known exposure, and four are pending.

With 58 cases being resolved, the active case count in TBDHU’s service has dropped to 406.

According to TBDHU, there are 39 area residents are receiving treatment in hospital, including 12 in the intensive care unit.

The total number of cases across the district since the onset of the pandemic has now reached 2,533.
