40 new COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay area

The number of active cases is 374, down two from Monday.

THUNDER BAY — The Thunder Bay District Health Unit reports 40 new COVID-19 cases today, all but one of which are in the City of Thunder Bay.

One case is located in a First Nation community.

The health unit says 24 of the 40 new cases are the result of close contact with infected individuals. One case is the result of travel outside of Northwestern Ontario, one has no known exposure source, and 14 are still under investigation.

The TBDHU says 42 cases have been resolved since Monday, leaving the current active caseload at 374, two fewer than on Monday.

There are now 26 patients from the city and district receiving treatment in hospital, three fewer than on Monday, but the number of patients in the ICU remains at nine.
