THUNDER BAY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in the Thunder Bay district climbed slightly on Thursday.
The TBDHU reported 46 new confirmed cases, and 37 cases resolved since Wednesday, bringing the active case count to 423.
Fifteen of the new cases are listed as "household contact," while nine others are considered other close contact cases.
Of the remaining cases, 15 have no known exposure, one is connected to the Walford Retirement Home outbreak, and six are pending.
Thirty-eight of the cases are in the City of Thunder Bay or immediate surrounding area, seven are in First Nations, and one is in a district community.
There are four more patients in hospital than on Wednesday, for a total of 35, including nine in the ICU.
A TBDHU spokesperson said the health unit will now report the number of household contact cases separately "to give the public and partners a better sense of the level of transmission occurring within the household setting and help increase clarity of what 'close contact' means."
