THUNDER BAY – The Thunder Bay 55 Plus Centre is asking for input from the community as it shapes a five-year strategic plan.

The centre, located on River Street, offers recreational programs, activities, and other services for those 55 and older.

The brief survey will be available online throughout August, and asks questions about users’ experiences at the centre, and priorities and ideas for events and other programming.

The results will help the centre determine how to meet users' needs at a time when the worst of the pandemic has passed, but COVID-19 remains a concern for many seniors, said Richard Siegfried, vice-president of the centre's board.

The majority of users are 70 and older, he noted.

"We're hoping to get the right programming going for the next year, when the after COVID effect isn't so strong," he said.

Participation in programming and activities remains around half of pre-COVID levels, he said.
