71-year-old injured in single-vehicle collision

Injuries to the male are more severe than initially thought.

THUNDER BAY - A single vehicle collision at the intersection of Fort William Road and Water Street resulted in serious injuries to a 71-year-old male.

Thunder Bay Police responded to a report of a collision on Wednesday at approximately 2:30 p.m.

The initial investigation revealed a grey Toyota was travelling in a south east direction on Fort William Road and continued through the intersection at Water Street without stopping. The vehicle then continued across Water Street, entering the ditch on the east side of the roadway and coming to rest on the railway tracks.

Initially, injuries to the male were believed to be minor, but it was later determined that they were much more severe.

Thunder Bay Police Traffic Unit now has investigators assigned to this collision and the investigation is ongoing.

The 71-year-old driver remains in hospital being treated for those injuries.
