THUNDER BAY — An outbreak of COVID-19 at the Thunder Bay District Jail turned out to be short-lived.

Less than a week after it was announced, the outbreak was declared over on Monday afternoon.

In a brief statement, the Thunder Bay District Health Unit said significant measures were already in place at the MacDougall Street facility to reduce the likelihood of further transmission of the virus should it be detected.

An outbreak at the jail earlier this year lasted over two months.
