A six-year-old girl is safe at home after an alleged abduction attempt on Tuesday.

Thunder Bay Police have a 27-year woman in custody following the incident, which occurred in the Lanark Crescent area just after 8:30 p.m.
According to a release issued by police, officers spoke to a number of people during the search, which led them to the Bay and Algoma street neighbourhood where the child was found.

The suspect was taken into custody and has been charged with abduction of person under 14 years. She’s expected in court later on Wednesday.

Police say the incident is a warning for other parents to remind children about “stranger danger” and not being led off by anyone without permission.

The suspect has not been named by police.
