THUNDER BAY – Anyone who received a first dose of an mRNA vaccine on or prior to May 9 on Monday become eligible to book dose No. 2.
The Thunder Bay District Health Unit and the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre have both opened additional appointments for the coming days and week to accommodate Ontario's recently announced accelerated second dose program.
Appointments for the health unit's CLE clinic can be booked through the health unit website, while the hospital's clinic at the Bora Laskin Building at Lakehead University can be booked through the TBRHSC's clinic website.
Others eligible to book at this time include those 12 and older looking for a first dose, but should select a clinic where the Pfizer vaccine is available.
Anyone who received an AstraZeneca vaccine for their first shot can book an mRNA vaccine for their second dose, as long as the appointment is at least eight weeks after their first shot.
Finally, anyone who is 70 or older can book a second shot, provided the appointment is at least four weeks after the first.
Those who cannot book online can phone the health unit at 625-5900.
Appointment bookings open at 10 a.m. on Monday.
