THUNDER BAY – A local woman facing charges of aggravated assault and assault with a weapon made a brief video appearance on Monday in a Thunder Bay courtroom.

Juanita Anderson, 24, was arrested in connection to an incident on March 3 that left a female with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries, according to a previous Thunder Bay Police Service media release.

Anderson made a brief video appearance on Monday, March 30, to be remanded to future date later this week.

She was arrested earlier this month after police officers responded to a disturbance call at a residential address in the 200 block of Pearl Street. When officers arrived they located a woman with serious injuries.

Police learned an argument had taken place between the victim and the accused inside an apartment unit which escalated into a physical altercation.

According to police, the woman attacked the other female with a weapon.

When other individuals from neighbouring apartments attempted to intervene to stop the assault, the accused assaulted those individuals as well.

Anderson was arrested a short distance away from the scene and was transported to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre for medical assessment of her own injuries.

She also faces one count of assault and one count of failing to comply with judicial release.

She will appear by video next in bail court on Thursday, April 2.
