THUNDER BAY - A woman charged in connection to the Thunder Bay police service’s largest fentanyl bust could seek bail as soon as next week.

Verdiana Lama, 20, is one of three people arrested after police executed a search warrant at an address in the 500-block of Van Norman Street earlier this month.

Police seized an estimated street value of drugs amounting to nearly $400,000 as a result.

Lama appeared before a justice of the peace on Friday to have a bail hearing set for Thursday, June 18 at the request of her counsel.

An Albanian interpreter was also requested for her potential sureties.

Police say an investigation into the drug-supply house initially began in October 2019.

Lama was arrested on June 3 alongside Didier Denzel Kongolo, 21, of Toronto and Janneka Lauren Martinez, 24 of England.

Police say these individuals are believed to be supplying trap houses throughout the city.

Officers seized large quantities of several illegal drugs including fentanyl, crack cocaine, cocaine, a handgun and drug trafficking paraphernalia.

All of the accused face a series of drug trafficking and firearm-related offences.

Lama will return to court June 18.
