Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Toronto for a well-known former Thunder Bay resident.

Adele Laskin passed away at her home Monday evening, surrounded by her family.  Laskin was perhaps best known as the wife of Saul Laskin, Thunder Bay's first mayor.

But she was also an extremely active community volunteer, serving with the Children's Aid Society, the library board, and the Women's Hospital Auxiliary, along with several other organizations.

She was also instrumental in building a new synagogue here in Thunder Bay in 1963.

Pre-deceased by her husband, Saul, two years ago, Adele Laskin is survived by five children.

She was 89-years-old.
