Aggravated assault sends one man to hospital

Police have arrested and charged a 27-year-old man with aggravated assault.

THUNDER BAY -- One man was taken to hospital following an aggravated assault.

According to a release, city police were dispatched to the area of Red River Road and Cumberland Street Thursday around 12:30 a.m. to assist a man who was bleeding.

Officers arrived to find three citizens tending to the man who had been assaulted.

The 30-year-old was in need of medical attention and was taken to hospital by ambulance.

Enough information was gathered to lead the officers to the suspect responsible for the assault.

A 27-year-old man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault at the Shoreline Hotel and escorted to the police station.

He appeared in custody Thursday morning and has been remanded into custody.
