IGNACE, Ont. – Two people suffered serious injuries requiring the intervention of air ambulance after separate collisions on Highway 17 Saturday.

Three vehicles were involved in a collision near the Revell River Bridge, west of Ignace, that required one person to be airlifted to hospital.

The driver of a transport truck rear-ended an SUV, then hitting another transport, said Acting Sergeant Jim Davis of the Ontario Provincial Police, adding brake issues may have been involved.

One of the transports involved in the incident was carrying unspecificed dangerous goods, police report, but escaped the incident without a breach.

A motorcyclist suffered non-fatal injuries in another collision just east of English River that occurred just before 4 p.m.. Davis said the accident was the result of an attempt to pass as the motorcyclist was heading west on the highway.
