THUNDER BAY -- Airport administrators are expecting a packed terminal over the weekend leading to March break and its president says travelers have a role to play in keeping lines moving.
"We expect people will try to take advantage of taking at least a full week off, if not getting both weekends into their travels," said Thunder Bay Airport Authority president Ed Schmidtke.
Schmidtke suggests travelers keep up to date using the airport's website regarding flight schedules and acceptable travel items such as food.
As airlines have different expectations regarding timelines for customer arrival, he recommends consulting their websites to ensure longer-than-usual lineups can move smoothly.
"(We) recommend people show up early," Schmidtke said.
"Make sure you know what the check-in cutoff time is for your specific airline and respect that and build some extra time in because there's going to be a lot of people showing up and if a lot of people show up last minute, then somebody's running the risk of not making the cutoff and not making their flight."
